Dear Circle Sisters and Friends,

Happy 95th Anniversary! 2015 marks the 95th anniversary of The General Ladies’ Uplift Circle. We will be doing some celebrating at our April Conference. To give you a very brief itinerary of our plans they will be as follows:

Friday, April 17, 2015 – 9:30AM – 12:00PM and 12:30PM – 3:00PM –  We will have an abbreviated business meeting at the Greensburg Chapel.  We will close the business meeting portion of the day and reconvene at 12:30pm at Ferrante’s Lakeview (6153 State Route 30, Greensburg, PA 15601), which is about a 10 minute drive from the WOC where we will be having a plated lunch. We will spend the rest of our day in fellowship here until about 3:00pm. If you have not already done so please RSVP to Sis. Tammy Valenti tavalenti@aol.com, along with your choice of entrée (Chicken Marsala or Stuffed Steak) and $5.

Saturday, April 18, 2015 – The General Circle will be giving a presentation in the afternoon session at General Church Conference. Please make sure to be on hand for the afternoon meeting to participate in the program. Time yet to be determined.

When we began preparing for our 95th I wanted a theme for the weekend. I wondered what the gemstone or precious metal was for a 95th Anniversary. I did what I always do, I Googled it. What I found was that a 95th anniversary is represented by a ruby. When I read that the portion of a verse in Proverbs 31 came immediately to my mind and I knew what the theme should be: “…her price is far above rubies.” (Proverbs 31:10)

As I began to ponder on that verse I realized that much of what the Ladies’ Uplift Circle does can be found within that Proverbs 31 passage. When I read through our history I am often amazed by what our early Circle Sisters were able to accomplish with so little resources. My natural eyesight is amazed but when I look at the events recorded my spiritual eyesight clearly sees the blessings of God that rested on the Circle. Without that interweaving of God’s spirit and direction this organization would not be successful or, quite possibly, still active today.

I feel blessed beyond measure to be the current president of this organization. I pray that God will continue to bless The Ladies’ Uplift Circle for the next 95 years and beyond. And although, I find myself steering the ship, I know that alone I cannot move us forward. I depend on the labor both spiritual and natural of all of you, my dear Circle sisters, to propel us to greater service, richer blessings and sweeter fellowship.

I hope and pray that many of you will be able to attend Conference this April. If you are able to come I’m going to make a small request. As part of the program on Saturday afternoon all of our Circle Sisters in attendance will be singing one song at the end of the program, if you are able please wear something red, white, pink or black to commemorate our 95th Anniversary.

May God richly bless you in all you do. Remember your price is far above rubies.

Much love,

Sis. Lisa
