Dear Sisters and Friends,

At our recent conference, after over 20 years of service as the General Ladies’ Uplift Circle Vice President, Sister Lorraine DeMercurio stepped down. During my years as President of your Circle, I have enjoyed Sister Lorraine’s experience and wisdom. It is sad for me to see her leave the office, but I know the necessity of change and the excitement it brings to an organization.

When the Israelites were faced with the prospect of change by leaving Egypt they fought it even though we know from reading Exodus 1:13-14 that they had a difficult life of servitude. Those verses read, “And the Egyptians made the children of Israel to serve with rigour. And they made their lives bitter with hard bondage, in mortar, and in brick, and in all manner of service in the field; all their service, wherein they made them serve, was with rigour.” Yet when the Lord offered them the opportunity to be delivered from their bondage, they complained throughout the entire trip to the Promised Land.

At the conference, Sister Lisa Champine was chosen by the sisters to fill the very important office of Vice President. I am sure that Sister Lisa is experiencing the fear of change, but I know the power of your prayers. Since I was elected President of the Ladies’ Circle, my life has changed many times and throughout those changes I have felt and been guided by the prayers of our sisters.

I ask now that you continue to pray for the General Ladies’ Uplift Circle. As you know, for several years we have been trying to get all of our younger sisters actively involved in the Circle. Sis. Lisa brings a desire to serve and encourage our youth. Every election brings a new phase to us. From your responses in the past, I know you too have a desire to “Grow the Circle”. The messages I have received since conference have encouraged and uplifted me. Your support in actions and prayers is vital.

I praise God for you and what our small band is able to do. Let’s all pray together that God gives us the desire to embrace change and by so doing afford us the opportunity to serve better as a group and as individuals

Love,

Sis. Karen
